Energetic Overview: Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse

Eclipse & The North Node
Eclipses act as an energetic portal for transformation and growth. They can bring significant shifts, internally and externally that allow us to release what no longer serves us. This happens when the orbit of the moon aligns with the sun and the earth. This point in space is referred to as the ‘North Node’ and is considered a point of destiny, calling us to evolve.

A solar eclipse coincides with a new moon and significantly amplifies its energy, emphasizing the opportunities for initiating new things in our life. The sun emits light, which contains frequencies and energies that we absorb here on earth.  During an eclipse, the moon passes in front of the sun, causing a disruption to these frequencies.  It acts as a hard reset for us, especially in the area ruled by Aries in your Natal Chart.

Aries  New Moon
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac; it represents our impulse to act and charge forward on a mission (sometimes impulsively).  As a cardinal fire sign, Aries ignites our inspiration and wants to start new things. It asks us to think about our own inner flame.  Does it burn so bright that we burn others with our reactions or does it need to be tended to, so that we can empower ourselves to shine a little brighter in the world and take up a little more space?  What is the quality of your relationship to yourself right now?

It can be helpful to notice what emotions are rising up within you and how you experience them in your physical body. Is it anger, anxiety, impulsiveness or excitement? Where does it land in your body? Getting the pulse of your emotions during this time provides perspective. Here are some possible correlations:

  • Anger -> unmet needs or boundaries have been crossed

  • Anxiety -> loss of faith and trust in something larger

  • Impulsiveness- > attempting to control or avoid something or

  • Excitement -> connected to inspired action

Chiron & Our Pain Points
Chiron is the wounded healer.  It points to the problems and challenges that we experience in our lives (hint: this may be a pattern of experiences or behaviors) In Aries, this is about the things that prevent us from our own self-expression and authenticity.  We are being asked to identify the stories we tell ourselves, where we are not enough, or too much. Examine the ways in which we, or our environment and our experiences serve as an echo chamber confirming our own disempowering beliefs. Our thoughts create our reality and we can’t change it until we see the ways in which we get in our own way and commit to working through it. This is a moment where we can no longer hold back who we are for the sake of others. An honest investigation can show us where we continue to give our power away, and the reclamation of that is the potent opportunity of this moment. They represent areas where improvement or resolution is needed to alleviate discomfort or achieve desired outcomes.

Mercury Retrograde
This is a unique feature of this New Moon Solar Eclipse.  While we have so many signals of a new beginning (Aries, New Moon, Eclipse) and yet Mercury, in its retrograde motion, is asking us to review where we have been before we start anything new.  It’s in the reflection of who we are, who we have been and where we have been that is ripe for revelations now. There is a pause that is taking place, a preparation, that asks us to plan and prepare to reclaim our personal power.

In reviewing our thoughts and perspectives about ourselves up until this point, we can identify unconscious patterns.  In bringing them to the forefront of our minds, it allows us to re-envision who we want to be, and what direction we want to take. Specifically with respect to creating opportunities to empower ourselves in ways that we may have not in the past. Review, reflect, revise and prepare to act once mercury is out of its retrograde shadow on May 13th.
